Monday’s at Life’s a Beach

I finally made it down to LAB last night for the first time since Kanoa moved toMondays there. Man I just had the biggest smile on my face! I gotta say I was reallyliking the sound I was hearing. It was Mike on the drums, Wolf on the bass and Kanoaon Guitar and Vox. They played such a broad range of music, from Ray Charles, toSnoop Dogg, to Jimi Hendrix. No matter what they were playing the guys just gelledtogether and you could just see them enjoying the dynamic and the energy on stage. Icould see it, I could hear it and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was also reminded about howmuch fun it is to watch Kanoa and crew play on different nights because it is alwaysfresh and fun and exciting. Jessica Rabbit did a set as well (she does every Monday) andshe did such a great job singing some Jill Scott, some En Vogue and more. She reallyput her own style into the songs which made her voice sound sincere and soulful attimes and soft and sweet when appropriate. Great job Jessica! I’ll definitely be goingback next Monday and I highly recommend the same toanyone who wants to beblown away by some of the most talented musicians I’ve everseen. I’ve heard a rumorthat Cody will be there as well which would be a real treat thatnobody should miss.Last time I saw Cody playing with Gomega he was playing theguitar, the keys, thetalkbox, a trombone and the cowbell. 2/03/08 Back Home on Maui

So Cody’s flight was at 7am and ours was at 8:45am, so we got to the airport at 6am and Ipo had “NO” sleep. Cody and I got maybe 2 hours of rest. For some reason Cody’s plane kind of sat there until 15 minutes before we loaded. The flight back to Maui was great cuz Ipo and I got to rest. When we landed Cody came down to picked us up. I had to go to work so I dropped Ipo off at home and I went to work.
It’s was Superbowl Sunday but man was it busy at Bounty. After work I went home to sleep and woke up and it was time to go to Tiki’s to play. Was nice cuz Cody wanted to play and I’m always happy to play with him anytime I can. It’s was a kind of slow night at Tiki’s cuz I guess everyone was doing the Superbowl thing r recovering from it.
I’m so happy to come home after a weekend trip off island. I love hangin out with new people, good friends, and family. Good times!!!!! Mahalo for stopping by! =Kanoa=

2/02/2008 So Much Fun and So Much Done

So after going to sleep at 5am, we had to be at the Perry and Price Show at 8:30am but we never made it in time but we got to watch Rob Yamanoha play which was more important cuz I so support him and his music. The only picture that was taken there was the one of Cody and Ha’e. Rob did an awesome job and I’m happy we got to be there and Cody got to meet him.
After that we heading back to the Windward side and dropped Ha’e off with Grandma D. Boots and Kimo’s was on our list but the fan was broken and the place got smoked out so we ending up at the Koa House and it was all good cuz after we ate we all went back to the house to sleep or so I thought? Mai stayed up and didn’t sleep. We didn’t find that out until later.
When we wake up Mai was gone with her parents for some dinner thing. So Cody, Ipo, and I got ready to go to dinner at Cody’s grandparents houses (you can read about it on gomegamusic.com) and we took pictures after dinner. All I can say is that was a great dinner and the lobster was “ONO”.
After dinner we were off to Lily Koi’s to play with the Girls from Mighty J. So we didn’t get a chance to see Hekili and Mel when they got in some time in the afternoon until we got to Lily Koi’s. So Ipo and Cody hung out with them and I made my rounds to say “HI” to everyone there. So Cody and I got up to play a set of songs off the new CD and jam with Kapono and was good fun. Rob got up and played some songs off his CD and I had fun playing with him as well. After we were done the girls went back on and it was a good night.
So after all the fun we had at Lily Koi’s, Cody, Jenn, Mai, Travis, Ipo, and I went to Anna Millers to eat and have more fun. We talked stories about the night and everything that happen and then took alot of funny pix outside and called it a night at about 4am. We went back to the house and packed and had to be at the airport at 6am cuz Cody’s flight was at 7am. What a weekend so much fun and so much done. 2/01/2008 So we Rushed to Tiare’s for 1 Drink and 1 Dance

Thats right we hung out with everyone at Tropic’s and then Mai and Jenn wanted to go to Tiare’s in Kailua so Cody and Brandan flew over and Kanoa and I right behind them just for 1 drink and 1 dance. Thats right all of that for that……..!
After that Brandan went home and we went to Zippy’s. Cody was gone and so was I and so was Mai and a little bite of Jenn. Mahalo to Ipo again for being Ipo and driving as always. Last picture is me small kind gone. Peace out! =Kanoa=

2/01/2008 Off to go see Mighty J at Tropic’s

Thank God we got there in time because Mighty J played first and we thought that they were playing later. Any who we got to see them play like 4 songs before they finished. Our bad….! But thats okay it gave us more time to hang out with Will, Matty, and the girls. I got to hang out with Cody’s boss Brandan and he is a really cool guy, I can see why Cody really likes him.

2/01/2008 After China Town we went to Tiki’s

When we got to Resort Quest Beach Hotel the valet guy was very nice local guy choke Aloha. Anyways it was all our first time at Tiki’s Grill and Bar in Waikiki and we wanted to just cruz and check it out for a little bite before heading off to go check out the girls from Mighty J at Tropic’s.
When we got there Vaihi just finished playing and Beach 5 was getting ready to set up an play. Meanwhile we order some drinks and kind of liked the atmosphere. Very touristy but no different then Kihei. Was nice to see Sonny and Christian and I’m happy to see that they are doing good. Support island music we support musicians of all kinds. 2/01/2008 Oahu Trip in China Town

So we decided to go check out China town for the Chinese New Years celebration. We kind of broke away from the girls for a little bite to go check out some new bar’s so that Gomega or I could play at, instead of the same ones all the time. Not that I’m being ungrateful but I would love to find a home bar to play at on Oahu.
Cody, Ipo and I just hung out and enjoyed the festivity it was a lot of fun and so much more different then Maui’s Chinese New Years but Maui No Ka Oi! LOL! Cody brought a Black Dragon and Ipo got a Blue one. Let’s hope that 2008 is a good year for all. We feed the Lions or Dragons and we hope that will bring us good fortune. 2/01/08 Career Day at Moanalua High School with Jenn “JROQ” Wright

Mahalo to Jenn for inviting me to tag along with her to Career Day at Moanalua High today. It was a lot of fun and I wish we had that on Maui but our Career Day is kind of different then it is on Oahu. The students that came to our table asked a lot of great questions about the business we are in. The good thing is Jenn still works a Full time job and dose music on a kind of Part time base and I do music Full time Jenn and I have different outlooks on the music business for the students. Mai wasn’t really into it much and Cody wasn’t either but he had fun with Ha’e.
I’m so happy that Jenn asked me to joined her. I got to met Bernadette and this guy who did awesome video work. It was awesome. Mahalo Jenn!Peace out! =Kanoa=

Well tonight was C.C’s last night at Life’s a Beach. It was kind of business and the boys and I as always had a good time. The police made their presents onces again and I think it’s a good thing for everyone. Keeps the fights down and the butt heads away. Nothing out of the ordinary just good clean fun.
Oh I think Chris left to go work at Dog and Ducks? But I know it was C.C’s at night at work and it was kind of sad at the end of the night but she still had a week before she moved away. Enjoy the pix! =Kanoa=

1/28/08 Kanoa of Gomega $2 Margarita Mondays

Well it’s getting a little better as far as people are concerned. It’s really tough on Monday nights in Kihei. I had some slow points when I played in Paia on Monday nights but that was more seasonal then anything else but this is the first time I’ve played in an area and it’s been tough. But it’s all good cuz I’m one to know that you can’t win’um all. I just don’t want to get dropped. I’m a hard working musician and I’ll keep on truckin cuz I love playing music for 2 people or a room full of people. New owners need to get with it, they just don’t get it that they need some strong advertisement.
Anyways was a great night, their was a birthday in the house and Jessica sang him Happy Birthday like Marilyn Monroe did to da Prez! How sexy???? It’s been hitting the 50 people mark until the end of the 2 nd set and by the last set it’s like 15 to 10 people but it’s a hell of a lot of fun playing with Mike and Wolf. It’s like a jam session and when people want to request a song it’s awesome just to groove and have fun. I love Gomega and what we do but sometimes just jamming is so much fun also.
